Let Your Volunteers Call From Home
New Tool Gives Republican Volunteers The Ability To Stay Active
Columbia, SC – December 29, 2009 – South Carolina based Republican Internet strategy firm Under the Power Lines today announced the release of VoterFetch.com, a new tool that increases the viral nature of campaign activity by giving supporters the ability to call voters from home. Powered by Bivings Group developed technologies, VoterFetch.com is already being used in Beta by United States Senator Jim DeMint’s reelection campaign, US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s campaign for Governor of Texas, and the South Carolina Republican Party.
VoterFetch.com was developed after Under The Power Lines partners Warren Tompkins, Terry Sullivan, and Wesley Donehue saw a need for more technology and connectivity in grassroots campaigns.
“Everyone sees the need for more Republican voter contact applications,” said Wesley Donehue of Under The Power Lines and online strategist for Senator Jim DeMint and Congressman Joe Wilson. “Traditional phone banks are incredibly inefficient. They’re typically only open in urban areas and only during a few hours a day. They must be manned by what’s usually a paid staffer and they require large offices and lots of planning.”
VoterFetch.com gives volunteers the ability to call voters from the comfort of their own home. They don’t have to drive anywhere. They can simply sign up and start calling voters at anytime.
VoterFetch.com was developed with one idea in mind – simplicity. “We wanted to make this process as simple as possible for the volunteer and campaign staff,” Donehue said. Campaigns upload their call lists and scripts into VoterFetch.com and they can view reports in real time as volunteers are making calls.
Senator Jim DeMint is already finding a lot of success with VoterFetch.com with hundreds of South Carolina supporters making calls nearly ten months before the election.
VoterFetch.com was launched by Under The Power Lines in conjunction with Bivings Group.

I give a lot of talks about the intersection of politics and the web and it always starts out the same way. “The Internet is changing everything. It’s changing the way we get our news. It’s changing the way we shop. It’s changing the way we interact. It’s only natural that it also changes the way we elect our leaders and run our country.”
In fact, that picture right there is a screen shot from the second slide of my PowerPoint.
I start there because it’s the foundation of everything. Until you realize that the Internet isn’t just a communications tool, but instead, the primary mechanism through which we connect, you will never be able to get it.
I ran into this video over on the Bivings site and thought it pretty much sums up what I’m trying to say.

Despite living all over the South East, Jordan considers the South Carolina Low Country his home. It’s probably because the beaches of South Carolina are a lot more pleasant than the congested roads of Atlanta, or the rural small towns of Alabama.
Jordan graduated from the University of South Carolina in December with a degree in Political Science. He joins us after leaving the South Carolina Republican Party. He was at the Party for over a year, beginning as a lowly intern and working his way to become the Deputy Political Director. During that time, Jordan really began to understand and to love politics. He is ready to bring the knowledge he gained from his experience with party politics to the team. He has always enjoyed scouring the Internet for the latest blogs and news. He is very excited to finally be on the other side of them.
Even though he is a fan of the Gamecocks he loves to win.
During the tea party tour, I got to video Senator DeMint speaking at the parties in Columbia, Charleston and Greenville. I had a great time being able to do this, as I got some great video shooting experience in large crowds and doing mic checks across stages. Thank you to Senator DeMint and everyone who might have helped open a door for me while I carried all my equipment, gave me a parking space and finally to our fabulous designer for putting all the final shots together.
Below is the video. Also check out DeMint’s blog post about the parties here
