This is one of the coolest designs we’ve done so far. Representative Lowe is a workaholic and this site goes a long way in showcasing his dedication to his constituents. Check it out at www.loweforhouse.com.
Our boy Tim Cameron has graduated from South Carolina politics and moved on to bigger and better things. Check this from the Washington Post:
And there is a depressing side, too. Tim Cameron, 24, the Gingrich staffer who sent out the mass e-mail bringing everyone to the bar to mingle, is now saying, “We don’t care what the electoral map looks like.” He cut his teeth on local races in South Carolina and worked on online strategy for conservative Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), but being out of power forces a different tactic.
“I’m focused more on solutions than partisanship,” Cameron says. He began working for Gingrich’s nonpartisan group last month, pushing the former House leader’s “Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less” campaign to advocate for drilling off the coast of Florida and in other domestic oil fields. Cameron sent out a ton of e-mail promoting a “Drill Now” online petition and promoted a YouTube video of Gingrich discussing his plan. The petition now has more than 43,000 signatures. That got a few nods of approval at the Top of the Hill bar.
Just think…two years ago he didn’t even know what a blog was. Ok, that’s not true. I’m just mad at all the extra work I have to do now that Tim is gone. All the while he’s chillin’ in DC bars. Thanks Tim. Appreciate it.
In 2006 Elizabeth and I embarked on a huge endeavor. Neither of us had ever lived outside of South Carolina, so we decided that it was a great opportunity to do so when we were asked to move to Michigan and help run Mike Bouchard’s US Senate race. Despite losing, we learned new strategies and made friendships that will have an enduring impact on our lives.
About midway through our journey, I was getting pretty swamped with administrative and political duties as Deputy Campaign Manager, so we hired David All as Communications Director to help me out. It was David who helped me discover the practicality of using the Internet in campaigns.
After the campaign David opened up “the nation’s first conservative web 2.0 agency†The David All Group. He also started Slatecard, the Republican answer to Act Blue. Slatecard is an amazing fundraising tool that allows activists to raise money for their favorite conservatives. The only problems is that Slatecard is currently only available for federal candidates, but David promises me that he will make it available to state candidates as soon as he can.
You may notice over the next week that our site looks a little funny. That’s just because we are going through some minor changes. Please ignore the funny looking things. We will have them fixed soon.
The Under The Power Lines team is very proud to be working with Congressman Joe Wilson in his reelection campaign. This site was designed by Lauren and brought to life on WordPress by a couple different coders. Hopefully the site will be quick enough to keep up with Congressman Wilson, one of the hardest working elected officials I’ve ever met.
Yesterday was the GOP runoff here in South Carolina and we wrapped up an extremely successful cycle. Although State Senate candidate Scott Talley narrowly lost by 198 votes, State House candidate Tom Young saw an amazing victory. Tom was attacked for weeks by third party groups and his opponent was even endorsed by Governor Sanford. We send our congratulations to Tom and his wonderful team of supporters.
We also want to send our congratulations to David Herndon who joins Senator Luke Rankin and Representative Thad Viers as our winning UTPL web clients.
2008 was a good year for us. Our wins include:
Senator Greg Ryberg
Senator Larry Martin
Representative Keith Kelly
Representative BR Skelton
Derham Cole for House
Mike Forrester for House
Tom Young for House
George Hearn for House
Mike Sottile for House
Strom Thurmond, Jr. for Solicitor (note: the most difficult)
As we told you the other day, George Hearn nearly squeaked it out without a runoff. We are proud to announce that today George’s three primary opponents have dropped out of the race and we now face no runoff or general election opposition. George Hearn will be the next State Representative from House District 105.
George is an incredibly hard worker and he will make one heck of a State Representative. We are extremely proud to have worked with him over the last few months and we can’t wait to see what great things he does for our state.
Last night was a good night for our team. First Tuesday Strategies, the consulting side of our shop, won every legislative race and went into three runoffs in first place. We helped incumbent Representatives B.R. Skelton and Keith Kelly survive well-funded challenges. We also ran Senator Larry Martin and Greg Ryberg’s landslide victories.
We are very excited to have helped elect three new House members – Mike Forrester, Mike Sottile, and Derham Cole. All will be great assets to our state. We nearly got George Hearn elected outright in a four way primary, but we missed it by just a few votes. He will be heading to a runoff with Kevin Hardee.
Speaking of runoffs, Scott Talley and Tom Young will both be heading into runoffs in first place.
As for UTPL web clients, we want to send big congratulations to Senator Luke Rankin and Representative Thad Viers for their big win. Both are awesome guys to work with.
The night wasn’t all victories however. We lost a tough Solicitor’s race in the lowcountry. Blair Jennings would have been a great Solicitor, but Scarlett Wilson beat us out. We gave that race our all but still came up short. We’re awful at loosing and hate it especially for Blair.
All in all we had 10 first place finishes last night and one lost. On a whole a good record by anyone’s standards.
